Riera To Face Misconduct Charge
Watford winger Albert Riera, who is currently on loan at the club till the end of the season, is likely to face a misconduct charge from English FA after reacting in an angry way for his record against Charlton. Watford were playing against Charlton on Tuesday night but they were dealt a big blow during the course of the 90 minutes after having had winger Albert Riera sent off for a second yellow card. The former Liverpool and Manchester city winger did not take the decision from the referee lightly, as the argued his case for most of the time.
He had to be escorted away from the pitch by his teammates in order to prevent further confrontation. Riera signed for the club on a loan deal till the end of the season. He had just moved to Udinese, who have a great relationship with Watford. The have been several players from Udinese who have come to Watford in the past two years. Riera, though, is one of the experienced members to come through the loan system. He has a lot of experience of playing in English football, while he is best known for his time at Liverpool.
It is highly unlikely that Riera will be spending time on the sidelines if the English FA punish him with a suspension. The FA have given him a couple of days to respond to the charge. It is most likely that he will be suspended for an additional two matches for this latest charge. It is not known whether Riera will be staying at Watford into next season as well. Udinese may very well decide to recall him in order to benefit their own ambitions of reaching the top three or even the top five of the Italian Serie A next season.
