Albert Riera talks about his past and future
Albert Riera has an extensive playing career that has seen him performing with a number of clubs including: Bordeaux, Espanyol, Liverpool, Galatasaray and Udinese just to name a few of the more well-known teams.
At the age of 34, the Spanish winger continues performing as he recently joined FC Koper after penning a contract which extends until 2018.
After having performed in so many different clubs and leagues, Riera was recently asked about which competition was the toughest and the most tactical one, the experienced player went on saying: ‘’ The Premier League is above all the other ones in terms of rhythm. La Liga has a lot of quality while the French league requires the managers to be more tactical and everything is very physical. Every single one of them is different but very entertaining’’
The experienced performer also said that he is thinking about the future, so there is a possibility of seeing the Spanish player joining another club after his time with FC Koper ends in 2018 or maybe even kicking off a managerial career when he hangs up his boots.
When Albert Riera was questioned about what exactly is he planning to do in his near future, the former Udinese player said: ‘’ I still have around 2 or 3 more years of playing football at a fairly high level and I want to make the most of it. I have a clause that in case if I receive an attractive offer from another club, I am able to leave and still perform a role as a sporting director’’
Even though Albert Riera is nearing the final stages of his career, it seems like he will continue to play a role in the world of football even after he decides to retire as the Spanish winger is interested to become a part of the staff team in a club, either as a manager, sporting director or something in this nature.
