RIERA SAYS LIVERPOOL NEED TO SIGNING REPLACEMENTS
Liverpool are having quite a quiet summer transfer window and have so far signed only one player and allowed one to leave as well. The Reds sanctioned the purchase of French defender Ibrahima Konate from German Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig before the end of last season as they looked for how to bolster their squad following the several injuries some of their players had in the last campaign. The signing of Konate was seen as a great bit of business by the club as many believe that they got themselves an outstanding central defender who still has a lot of potentials to develop into an even better player in a few years.
Dutch midfielder Giorginio Wijnaldum was allowed to leave the club this summer to sign for French Ligue 1 heavyweights Paris Saint-Germain as they could not offer him the sort of contract he was demanding. They are yet to sign his replacement and with Xherdan Shaqiri also said to be close to be leaving the club, their former player Albert Riera has urged them to start signing replacements as soon as possible before the closure of the transfer window.
Riera says Liverpool need more squad depth than they currently have and to achieve that, they need to sign players to replace the ones that have departed and the ones who still want to leave.
